Media arts "why dont you dance"

He considered this as he sipped the whiskey.
This girl and this boy were furnishing a little apartment.
flipped the match into the grass.
The house was dark
Lights came on in the houses up and down the street
The boy laughed, but for no good reason. For no good reason, he switched the reading lamp on.
the man said, and put down the sack and took out the beer and the whiskey.
The man sat on the sofa, leaned back, and stared at the boy and the girl.
It was then that his cigarette dropped from his fingers and fell between the cushions.
He poured more whiskey and opened a beer.
"Why don't you dance?"
"Dance with me," the girl said to the boy and then to the man, and when the man stood up, she came to him with her arms wide open.
The girl closed and then opened her eyes. She pushed her face into the man's shoulder. She pulled the man closer.

What kind of details does Carver choose to describe the “place?”
He describes it as being an out door area, along with a yard sale with it being a dimmed day.  The outside was not to bright and not to dark it was sort of in the middle.  The area was also in a neighborhood and in front of a house.

What do the following passages tell you about the place?

The girl sat on the bed. She pushed off her shoes and lay back. She thought she could see a star.”

“Lights came on in the houses up and down the street.”
The first passage states that the place was nice and calm.  Very peace full and just a good feeling overall.  The perfect mood to be calm and relax.
The other passage states that it is in a neighborhood where all the neighbors are wondering what is going on across the street.

Now look at the passages that you chose. How do they talk about the place? Why are they important or unimportant?
I mainly chose the one where the man came and began to drink a lot of whiskey, making the boy to get drunk.  It seemed as if he wanted to steal the girl from the boy, she was almost falling for it.  The girl held the man close to her and making the boy feeling unpleasant.

Describe your role in the production of the class movie. How did your contribution make things more efficient? How did you help make the movie better? What specific contributions did you make? Did you go above and beyond, or simply show up? Be honest.
My role was mainly playing in the film as an extra. My part in the film did not really affect anything in the film. However, in the beginning of the film, you noticed that one of the main characters was my friend. You can tell this by seeing me talking to him in a good conversation as the camera is panning. Once the main character turned in to pizza face I turned away and did not want to talk to him anymore.

Describe one or more things you learned about the writing process that you did not know before working on this project.
What I have learned in this project about the writing process, was more than what I thought I would ever know. It is amazing how many times you have to shoot just one small scene. It is also important to make clear descriptions in your script about what is happening in the scene. You want to make sure you take as many shots of a scene as possible that way even if you have a good scene shot. You have more parts to work with in your film to make it as professional as possible.

Describe one or more things you learned about the production (filming) process that you did not know before working on this project.
I learned that you have to be able to record a certain scene OUT of order from the movie, That way it is most convenant. I also learned that in order to make a good film you need to work as a team. Team work is the key to any door of opportunity in life. Whether it is working with friends or even others you don't even know.

Describe one or more things you learned about the post-production (editing, sound, etc.) process that you did not know before working on this project.
What I learned is in order to see and experience others ideas and thoughts.  Each one must be apart of editing a different scene from the video.  This way every one gets an equal chance in to sharing their thoughts.  After each scene is done, then the "producer" will put each scene together that way everyone can watch they rough cut together.  After the crew has done watching it then everyone can then discus on what needs to be done to make the video a perfect final cut.

Are you satisfied with the final product? Why or why not? Be honest.
Yes I am satisfied with the final product. Reason being is because no matter the outcome with the final cut, the process of making the film its self was enjoyable. Each individual member had a learning experience with working with others, learning new equipment. Such as the boom mic and audio recorder, we learned about how important each one can be and how important the script manager can be. With out one of these important members of the crew, then creating the film will be harder to do.

Suggest one improvement for next year’s class. What could I do to make it easier/better/more informative/more fun?
I believe in order to make the film making experience better for next years class.  Is to get everyones attention faster, make each student have  a big role including extras.  Say there is a class of twenty students but there is five main characters.  The extras can have certain small scenes where they get embarrassed or something funny happen to them.

What is creativity?

Creativity is the artistic side to ones thought.  Just because someone can't draw really well or even design something really neat.  That does not mean that they are not artistic.  All you need to do to be an artist per say, is to have a creative mind.  This can go with creating a video,  editing music and etc.  Creativity is mainly letting your imagination come to life.  Everything we see today, was made by imagination which was made through creativity.  We each have our own thoughts and different ideas.  Everyone should let their thoughts be free, show others what you can do.  This can be writing your on movie script, writing a song or anything that makes you, well you.
